Humanity

What does it mean to be human, and what is humanity? Is it our beating hearts and curious minds, although other animals have those? Maybe it’s our emotions, self-awareness, and relationships to one another and our environment? Our ability to zoom out and see ourselves and various interactions, analyze the cycles of civilizations within our world? Or is humanity something we’ve constructed that can be emulated?

Merriam-Webster defines humanity as: 1) the quality or state of being human. They were joined together by their (common) humanity. 2) the quality or state of being kind to other people or to animals. We appealed to his sense of humanity. 3) all people : humankind. These discoveries will be of benefit to all humanity.
